Who is Sung Dong-hyun? 152 km floating in the LG bullpen… Pay attention to the amount of salt

There are signs that another fastball pitcher will emerge in the LG bullpen. Right-handed pitcher Seong Dong-hyeon (24) threw a fastball of up to 152km in the first real game of spring camp, raising expectations for coach Yeom Gyeong-yeop.

On the 26th (Korean time), Sung Dong-hyun made a relief mound as the 6th pitcher in the 7th inning against the Dutch World Baseball Classic (WBC) national team held at Salt River Field at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. He walked, struck out 1 and allowed 1 run.

Seong Dong-hyun,메이저놀이터 who overcame the crisis by inducing Roger Bernardina from KIA to pop fly to second base in the 7th inning with 2 outs and 1st and 3rd base, started multi-inning in the 8th inning. He gave up one walk, but struck out one and passed the mound to Bae Jae-joon with one out and first base. Bae Jae-joon hit a home run and called in a runner, allowing one run.

Seong Dong-hyeon threw 21 pitches that day, 12 strikes and 9 balls. He threw a mix of fastballs (17), sliders (3) and curveballs (1). His fastball velocity reached a maximum of 152 km, and he also showed persistence with an average of 149 km.

After the game, LG coach Yeom Gyeong-yeop said, “Sung Dong-hyun’s pitch seems to have come up faster than I thought.” Even before the game, coach Yeom expressed his expectations, saying, “Young pitchers are showing good performances, but Seong Dong-hyun is good in the middle.”

Donghyun Seong, a right-handed pitcher with a height of 193cm and 104kg from Jangchung High School, joined in the 8th overall in the 2nd round of the 1st round in 2018, but on October 18 of that year, the victory against Munhak SK (Salvation ⅓ innings scoreless) was all of the first team appearance record. After completing the 2019 season, he returned to LG after serving two years of military service as a social worker.

He spent a full season last year in the Futures League, going 4-3 with 7 saves and 5 holds, with a 5.21 earned run average and 46 strikeouts in 42 games (38 innings). He also participated in the U-23 Baseball World Cup held in Taiwan in October, and was responsible for the back door with 1 win, 2 saves and an average ERA of 1.50 in 5 games (4⅔ innings). He was included in the 1st team’s spring camp this year, and has already thrown a 152km fastball, increasing his chances of entering the 1st team’s bullpen even during the season.
