Kim Ha-Sung (27, San Diego Padres) was hit hard in the left knee by a foul ball and had to leave the game. Luckily, it wasn’t a serious injury.
After getting X-rays on Saturday (July 26), Kim told MLB.com, “It really hurt. It hurt a lot. We’ll have to see how I feel tomorrow,” he said, adding, “Fortunately, it was diagnosed as a simple bruise.”
MLB.com also reported, “Kim won’t be able to play tomorrow against the New York Yankees, but he won’t be placed on the injured list (IL)메이저사이트.”
Kim batted seventh and played third base for the visiting Washington Nationals of the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., but was removed from the lineup before completing his first at-bat in the second inning.
In the top of the second inning, with the bases loaded, Kim swung at a second pitch from Washington starter Jake Irvin that struck him directly in the left knee. The pain was excruciating as the ball hit an unprotected area. Kim collapsed and was eventually helped off the field by a trainer.
Fortunately, a hospital checkup revealed a “simple bruise.
“The pain is still there, to the point where it’s hard to walk. I actually thought the worst had happened when I was hit by the first pitch,” he said. “Fortunately, I got a good result. It was better than I expected,” he said in relief.
Kim is batting .237 (36-for-152) with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 47 games this season. After opening the season at second base, Kim has been playing third base since Manny Machado recently suffered a fractured finger.
According to MLB.com, “When Kim was first hit by a pitch, it looked like something big was about to happen for San Diego. But disaster was averted when Kim was diagnosed with a simple bruise,” said a relieved San Diego clubhouse.
