This was Hwang’s first start of the preseason. I didn’t have any offensive points, but my performance was better. My vision was much wider and I was able to integrate into various plays. Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton) made another improvement.
Wolverhampton drew 0-0 in their preseason match against ‘promotion’ side Luton Town at Molineux in Wolverhampton, England on Sunday afternoon (local time). Hwang Hee-chan started and played 66 minutes. It was his first start in preseason this season.
He was as sharp as ever in his breakthroughs. Here, he picked up the ball on the left flank and cut into the center before slotting a pass through. It was a great way to start a buildup. His through ball was crisp and he created a good chance when he got into the box. He had a few shots that were saved by the opposition goalkeeper. However, he deserves applause for his chance-making. Hwang’s versatility made him the centerpiece of Wolverhampton’s offense.
“I think a lot of the tactical things we’ve been working on since pre-season came out,” he said after the game, “but it’s more important to get some results and get into the habit of winning.” Wolverhampton play a pre-season game against Reims on the weekend before opening the Premier League next week against Manchester United.안전놀이터
-It was the third game of pre-season and today I started for the first time and played the most minutes.
It was my first start in a long time, and it was a home game, and we talked a lot before the game about how we had to win this game, even though it was a pre-season game. It’s a little disappointing that we didn’t get the result.
I think a lot of the tactical things that we’ve been working on since the preseason came out really well, so I think that was another positive.
I think it was positive.
It’s important that we get into the habit of getting results and winning a little bit more. We’ve got about a week left and I think we need to focus on that a little bit more and get ready.
-There were a couple of moments where I got into the back and created a couple of chances, and I think I spoke to Mateus (who made the pass) after the game about that.
We talked about the pass to the back, and I think I needed a little bit more composure and a little bit more calmness in those moments, and I think I didn’t have that, so I’m a little bit disappointed personally, because it’s a team result, and I need to take a little bit more responsibility and make sure that I’m creating results.
-Is that something you prepared for tactically?
-We prepared a lot for that, and also the release from underneath and those kind of things, because there were a lot of them from the first half today, not just one or two, but a lot of them, so I’m very happy with the players and the coaching staff. We still have a little bit of time to perfect it, so we’re going to focus on that a little bit more, and we’re going to prepare well.
-Hwang Hee-chan did a good job in the release scene.
I think it’s a little bit positive that we were able to get involved in a lot of those situations where we were a little bit more detailed and the coach was able to explain it a little bit better, and we were able to get involved in a lot of those situations where we were able to get out of the pressure situation and get back in, so I think it’s a little bit positive that we were able to do a lot of the things that we were preparing for anyway, so I think we’re going to try to do a little bit better in those areas, and I think we’re going to have to prepare a little bit better to make sure that we’re taking care of those consequences that we’ve been talking about.
-I was taping my right knee, and I was stretching a lot in warm-ups.
We went to Portugal for pre-season, and we were training really well, and then all of a sudden I was crossing and it was probably the first time I’ve ever felt that much pain in my knee. I’ve never felt that much pain in my knee.
But then I did it again with Celtic, I did it again with Man City Academy, and it was a little bit bad, but anyway, it’s pre-season and you can’t just keep resting, so I just taped it up and did it.
There’s still a lot of time until the season, so I’m going to prepare a little bit better, and I have the confidence that I can do really well if I don’t get sick anyway, so I think that’s the most important thing I’m going to do this season, is to heal it and show the fans that I’m not sick.
-When I went to Celtic, I met three Korean players, Kim Min-jae went to Bayern Munich, Lee Kang-in went to Paris, and Cho Kyu-sung came to Denmark, so I think I can feel that our soccer has gone up a lot.
First of all, playing with so many Korean players in Europe is actually something that hasn’t happened much since Augsburg, and I was so proud and impressed to play with my brothers like that against Celtic.
It’s not that we were just playing together as Koreans, but we were just playing and they were doing well, so I think I was a little bit more proud of them and there was something like that.
For example, (Kwon) Hyuk-gyu was the first time I saw him and it was the first time we played together on the field, but I felt that he was really good even though it was against a Premier League team. (Yang) Hyun-joon was also showing his dribbling and shooting, so I really felt that these players were going to be good. (Oh) Hyun-gyu, of course, I can’t mention him, because it’s a lot different to see him on TV and to see him when you play together like this.
(Oh) Hyun-gyu was also very good at protecting the ball and showed very good form. I would really like to expect a lot from the players this season and ask you to support them a little more.
-Finally, Hwang Hee-chan, what are your ambitions for the season?
▶As I said earlier, I think my biggest ambition is to be able to show a really good performance with a body that is not injured and not sick.
First of all, I know that the fans always support me a lot in Korea, so I think my biggest goal is to show a good performance in a good position with a good body that is not sick to the people who always come to the stadium and the fans who support me in Korea.
