‘High School Express’ Jang Hyeon-seok (19, Masan Yongma High School, photo) wears the LA Dodgers uniform of the American professional baseball team. On the 9th, Hyun-seok Jang’s agency, Rico Sports, announced that Hyun-seok Jang had signed a contract with the Dodgers for a down payment of 900,000 dollars (approximately 1.188 billion won).
Jang Hyun-seok is a right-hander who throws fastballs at speeds of 150 km/h in the second half of the year, and has appeared in 21 high school baseball games, recording 6 wins and 3 losses with an ERA of 1.85. Although he throws a fast ball, his pitches are relatively stable, and he has been attracting attention from both domestic and major league scouts for his ability to use changing pitches such as curveballs and changeups.
He is the only amateur player selected for the Hangzhou Asian Games baseball team held in September, and is the first high school student to participate as a baseball representative for the Asian Games.
He was by far the biggest word ahead of the 2024 professional baseball rookie draft. However, Jang Hyeon-seok declared on the 1st that he would challenge to advance to the major leagues, and in about a week, he decided to go to the Dodgers.먹튀검증
Among the clubs that initially showed interest in Jang Hyun-seok, 3 clubs eventually competed to recruit him, and Jang Hyun-seok chose the Dodgers, who were the most active among them. Lee Ye-rang, CEO of Ricoh Sports Agency, said, “The Dodgers team prepared an analysis video of Hyun-seok Jang’s pitching motion and explained the pitcher development process and method well.”
The Dodgers are a team that has had relationships with many Korean major leaguers in the past, and in particular, it is also the team where Park Chan-ho and Ryu Hyun-jin, major league pitchers representing Korea, debuted in the big leagues. Like Park Chan-ho, Jang Hyun-seok, who chose the big challenge of going directly to the United States without going through the KBO league, also takes on the challenge of continuing his lineage at the Dodgers.
Jang Hyun-seok said, “It is an honor to join the prestigious Dodgers team. I will work hard to become a player who develops as much as I have chosen.”
Jang Hyun-seok plans to hold a press conference with a Dodgers scout official at the Dragon City Hotel in Seoul at 2:00 pm on the 14th.
